SCA CSP - Sensory Skills FOUNDATION

Service Description
SCA offers certificates in the following education programs: the Coffee Skills Program, the Sustainability Skills Program and the Coffee Technicians Program. These programs are built on decades of knowledge, research, and real-world experience designed to help learners create a successful career in the coffee industry. Sensory Skills courses cover concepts and skills relevant to the evaluation of coffee and related products. The content of these interactive courses includes sensory science, industry-specific protocols, common sensory attributes of coffee, physiological sensory training, implementation of sensory programs, consumer testing design, application in business and more. Sensory Skills Foundation course: (1 Day course) Learners gain insight into identifying specialty coffee qualities, differentiate certain sensorial aspects of coffee including body, acidity, bitterness, recall fragrance identification and set up a cupping according to the SCA Cupping Protocol. Sensory Skills Intermediate course: (2 Days course, Practical exam inclusive) The course prepares learners for more complex job functions in the sensory evaluation of coffee and related products, topics includes: the physiology of taste and aroma; the types of sensory analysis tests, the diversity of coffee attributes; the use of the SCA Flavor Wheel and WCR Sensory Lexicon, and the operation of a cupping session. Sensory Skills Professional Course: (3 Days course, Practical exam inclusive) The course prepares learners for managerial job functions in the sensory evaluation of coffee and related products: gain alignment with industry coffee and sensory standards; learn about the implementation of sensory evaluation in a coffee business; acquire the skills required to start identifying and evaluating qualities in specialty green coffee; and demonstrate how to accurately measure and describe coffee beverage characteristics. All three Level includes a written exam (online), while Intermediate and Professional Level will have Practical exam. Upon completing the course and Passing exam(s) of each level, Learner will be awarded a Certificate by SCA. Learner must complete and Pass each Level in order to progress to the next level of the same module.
Cancellation Policy
1. Languages:- a. All workshops, trainings and professional Learning courses are conduct in Cantonese. English or Putonghua is also supported, please contact us PRIOR booking for confirmation. b. Written handouts - Professional Learning's (e.g. SCA series) handouts will be delivered in English (for better understanding especially for SCA's written exam); while various non-academic Workshops handouts (if any) will be delivered in Chinese. Vice versa languages version (Chinese or English) is available only per request with prior arrangement. 2. If reschedule is required, please contact us at least 48hours prior your session starts, we'll, to the best we can, to help reschedule you to the next nearest session of the same workshop level or session content. However, we're at unable to customize and convert any part of a group workshop into a private session for reschedule reason. 3. All Course fees (including Workshops, Training, Education and Consultation Service, or similar) are non-refundable in principle. However, if the course needs to be cancelled due to inclement weather or force majeure, we will try our best to arrange an alternative course date as soon as possible. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled class, we will arrange a full refund within 30 calendar days from the date of confirmation of such cancellation. 4. All courses (including workshops, trainings, certification course series, and consultancy services or similar services), regardless of whether they are single or multi-session, must be paid in full before the course commencement and no change of participants or participants is allowed after the course commencement. No refund or part of the fee will be made as a result.
